ISO/IEC 27040 Data Storage Security Management System Certification

In the context of continuous iterative upgrading of Internet technology, the global data volume is growing explosively. As one of the most important links in data lifecycle management, storage is facing the challenge of how to implement data storage protection and security measures to meet various requirements, including regulatory compliance. This also puts digital assets at risk of being compromised due to data breaches, intentional destruction, or other malicious events.

In response to the increasingly complex information environment and growing demand for information security, especially storage security, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) have developed the ISO/IEC 27040:2015 standard, aiming to help enterprises improve their data security storage management capabilities. The ISO/IEC 27040 international standard provides guidance for storage security in organizations, particularly supporting the requirements of Information Security Management Systems (ISMS) that comply with ISO/IEC 27001. Storage security applies to the security protection of information storage, as well as the security of information transmitted through communication links related to storage. Storage security includes the security of devices and media, the security of management activities related to devices and media, the security of applications and services, and the security related to end-users during the lifecycle and after use of devices and media.
